Long time no see

I haven't posted here lately. I don't even know why, somehow I just fell out of the habit. Not nice of me. Perhaps it can be partly blamed on the fact that I went to Prague for a few days in the beginning of December, so I was either travelling or preparing to travel or recovering after travelling for some time...

In short: Prague is always great. Bus travel is also almost always great (as long as the bus is not crowded, and this one definitely wasn't). I'm happy that I got to visit it this year as well. I still need to actually spend time working on my Czech, though. I find it a little bit annoying that I'm so lazy with it, because I'm still only a little better than a complete beginner at it. I love the language so much, but I suck at actually working on it. Why?

Okay, language frustration aside, I'm always happy when I get to travel, and maybe especially to Czech Republic.

As for other things - you probably already realized that the winter sports season started up again - and WHAT a start it has been for the certain someone that I actually posted about here even when I didn't post about myself much. He has won 6 straight races, and watching him compete at the moment is an absolute dream, and I don't even have words for it. (Besides, he's competing again this weekend, which he wasn't originallly supposed to do, so I get to watch him more than expected before Christmas, yay!)

Christmas... will be peaceful and quiet as usual here. Today I have been to the post office to post my packages for abroad, so if you are catness, gobtastic, jenni_blog, shana0809 or drbillbongo, you can expect something nice in your mailbox soon - hopefully in time for Christmas, but also maybe not, because I know I've been late with getting things posted this year.

That's all for now. I'm still here, and I'll try to not be quiet for an eternity next time.

Oh yeah, travel definitely has a way of shifting habits around - it's distracting (albeit a nice distraction).

Glad to hear Prague was nice~ Oh man, I keep hearing from various people that it's such a nice place to visit, maybe some day....

Ah, lovely Prague... <3 It's great that you can visit it so often. LOL, it's the same with me and German language... for all my obsession with it, I'm forever stuck somewhere between A2 and B1. It's hard without proper motivation, e.g. an actual need to communicate in this language... I don't even know what direction should I take. I don't think that refreshing Duolingo tree is helpful anymore. Read books? (but Google translate is so tempting, and I end up using it way too much...) Grammar exercises? (too boring) Interact with people on the Internet? (too embarrassing) Watch movies? (too time-consuming)

What's your plan for improving your Czech? Maybe I can borrow some ideas?

And I just posted your package today, too, but with our postal service, there's no chance in hell for it to get there before the New Year. Let's hope for the best.

Oh, you're in my brain giving all my reasons for not working on the language, right? Unfortunately, I think in much the same way you do. I'm lazy, I know :(. I have a few workbooks for Czech, and I tend to think that I should actually... you know, use them sometimes. But whenever I look at them, I just end up randomly reading some passage of text, and focus on what I do understand from it - not that much on actually learning what I don't. Also, music? Reading lyrics out loud to practice pronunciation used to work very well for me, but now I've not done even that in forever. I would do that even when I had little or no idea what the lyrics said, btw - for me it was mainly about having fun saying these cute words, and teaching myself to wrap my tongue around unusual letter/sound combinations.

As for Johannes - aww, I love that you made him a nickname :) That's lovely! As far as I know, he doesn't have one.

As for packages, I actually wrote on your card that you probably won't get yours from me until the new year, so you see I didn't trust our post much either :D. Let's see when these packages arrive. It'll be great even if it's not for a holiday! :)
