witchcraft doesn't have to be religious to be "valid", but unfortunately a lot of people conflate the two, especially when it comes to Wicca. however, if you'd like to look into some really cool forms of witchcraft that might be easier on the brain, Christian - mostly Catholic - folk magic is 100% A Thing. here's one such book about it written by a former nun, and you can actually look up stuff wrt Christianity mixing with folk beliefs/old religions if you look for what's called "syncretism". folk magic scholars like Claude Lecouteux - just be warned a lot of his books are SUPER thick because they're from a scholar standpoint. :P
