Fic: "Regret"

I wrote fic again! It's been so long since I even tried to write anything like this, so it feels strange to do so again. Almost as if I'm not entitled to try anymore, because I don't know if my scribbles can even count as fic anymore. I tried, though, so here we are.
This is Genshin Impact fic, of course. My two favourite characters from the game are Diluc and Kaeya. I love their interactions, their communication, their backstory and just the way they're so different and yet so absolutely perfect together. Hopefully, I can share a bit of my love for them with you through this fic.
Title: Regret.
Pairing/characters: Diluc Ragnvindr/Kaeya Alberich. There's also a bit of an unnamed Fatui diplomat/Kaeya here.
Word count: 693.
As usual, Diluc had no problem maintaining the unimpressed expression on his face. However, he could not hide the dark look in his eyes as he watched Kaeya allowing himself to be pulled down into another man's lap. Seemingly with no objections to the closeness, nor even a slight flinch at the way a greedy hand pushed inside his shirt.
Of course it was nothing new. After all, he knew Kaeya's slightly unsavoury methods of gathering information very well.
This was worse than usual, though.
Because that man was a Fatui diplomat.
In that moment, Diluc wanted nothing more than to wring the guy's neck and burn him to ashes for even daring to lay his dirty hands on his Kaeya. However, seeing as that wasn't an option right now, he'd have to settle for something else instead.
He knew just what to do.

The chance came a while later. Kaeya had seemingly managed to wiggle out of the snake's embrace, and sauntered over to the bar to buy another Death After Noon. Even though his posture was less graceful than usual, and his steps slightly unsteady, Diluc was not fooled that easily.
The gaze that locked with his own for a long moment was perfectly steady.
Whatever else this was about, Kaeya's attempt to appear more inebriated than he was, was undoubtedly for the benefit of his Snezhnayan... friend over in the corner.
Oh, well. It didn't particularly matter. Let him watch.
- "Can I get another one of these delectables?"
Even such a simple question could apparently come out coated in honey, when spoken from those lips.
Diluc hated that the thought alone went straight to his groin.
"If you must," her replied, with hard fought calmness. "It'll be the last one, though. We're closing."
He took his time mixing the drink, not failing to notice neither Kaeya's pout nor the way he leaned dangerously close over the counter; the half-open and slightly askew shirt exposing much of his chest in the process. However, he refused to let the sudden lack of distance between them knock him off his perch.
Not tonight.
"I just find it highly interesting," he began, as he poured the drink from the mixing jug, "why you would stoop so low as to make out with some Fatui scum, suddenly?"
Kaeya didn't even flinch at the condescending wording or the poisonous tone. "Does it bother you?" he grinned in response, with a naughty click of his tongue.
Diluc scowled. Of course, wiping the smug grin off of those gorgeous features was never going to be as easy as simply asking. He had, however, finished mixing the drink by now; something that gave him the opening he needed. Glass in hand, he moved quickly around the counter, before setting the glass down out of reach, and turning around in almost one continuous move.
For a brief moment, he could see a hint of surprise - even shock - on Kaeya's features as he pushed him roughly against the wall, and then stepped closer to trap him there with his body.
"Whether it bothers me or not is entirely beside the point," he growled. "However," - he could feel the younger man relax in his hold already - "I'm just reminding you that such behaviour will not go unpunished."
He punctured his words by pushing his knee between Kaeya's legs, pressing closer to him and allowing him to feel the weight of the next words dangerously close to his skin.
"You will regret what you did tonight."
Even as he released his grip, they remained in the same positions for another few moments. Both unwilling to part just yet; unwilling to give up the moment of dangerous intimacy.
"Is that so, Master Diluc?" Kaeya smirked after a moment, taking a step away, but unable to hide the way his single eye sparkled with glee. "I'm looking forward to that."
He had - in his trademark roundabout way - managed to interpret the threat as a promise.
As it was. As it should be.
