Another quick update about mom

She did not get a care home spot in the place that is close to where I live. Instead, she got a spot in a place about 15 minutes (bus time) outside the town centre. If I didn't realise until now, it's really starting to register in my head that knowing how to use the bus is a crucial life skill.

The reason she couldn't go somewhere closer? That place she's at now apparently has more equipment suited to her needs, more expertise on her needs and on how to help her in the best way. And of course this is the most important!

She's only been there for three days, but today is the first time I felt like she was starting to get a bit more comfortable. The first couple of days weren't great for her, she was stressed about the move and about the new surroundings and new people etc, but today things seemed a little better.

So, some things are positive, at least. I'm trying to focus on that as much as I can.

Plus, the cousin was with me to visit her today, and being together, all three of us, is just such a beautiful thing. I'm very glad that he's coming to see her regularly, because I think this is important for her... but also for me, because he knows how things are, and I can talk to him when I need to, without needing to explain anything.

I didn't want to write a lot, as these posts make me think.... but I also want to have these notes here.
